FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!
Q. Why should I have a video on my site?
Video is the future of content marketing. It's already hard to find a successful business, big or small, that hasn't introduced some form of video in to their marketing and by 2017 it's estimated that video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic (Cisco Research).
Research shows that customers on sites containing video will be more engaged, hang around for longer and digest the presented information easier. Video is also a great way of combining information and entertainment and with channels like YouTube and Vimeo your potential reach is virtually limitless.
Q. What types of videos can I make?
While we will advise you on concepts suitable to your market, your imagination is really the only restriction here. Working with professional scriptwriters, we're able to produce everything from strictly informative corporate style videos to short funky flicks aiming to entertain the audience.
Preferably we incorporate a mix of these styles in to a video strategy package aiming to increase engagement from existing customers and introduce your brand to new potential clients.
Q. Why should we choose Stagewolf Entertainment to produce our videos?
At Stagewolf, we use unique storytelling techniques to convey your story to your viewers in an interesting and informative way. We avoid the typical boring videos in which viewers switch off almost immediately. Our production workflow allows us to fully understand you and your business story so that we can convey this to your target audience in an informative and interesting way.
Q. I have a small to medium sized business - what can video do for me?
Video is an outstanding choice for smaller companies, because it can accomplish so much. It can act as sales person, spokes model, PR campaign, and product demo all without additional staff. Video can be in a million places at once, getting your message out there.
Video can help you respond quickly to changes or new ideas in your specific market so that you always appear to be on the leading edge of information - and that can be the difference in a customer choosing you over the other guy.
Video can adapt to almost any need and any budget, and one video shoot can be edited into a variety of different uses, making it a very cost effective use of your budget.
Q. How long should my video be?
A variety of factors can go into that including audience, purpose, and where/when the clip will be viewed, but generally any video over 3 minutes (and that can be too long depending on the content) risks losing the impact you want to achieve.
We often advise that you produce multiple, shorter videos rather than one longer one if you are trying to give a lot of information. It enables your message to stay sharp and focused - and to actually be viewed by the audience you are targeting.
But your video needs to be as long as your message warrants, even if that is longer than 3 minutes.
Q. What elements are in an effective video?
An effective video is one that leaves your viewer understanding the purpose for the video, and makes them glad they spent the time watching it.
Steps include defining the purpose for the video (what do you want the viewer to know, feel, or do when the video is over) and then supporting that purpose with key points, production style and tone, and a script that seamlessly moves the viewer from start to finish in as short a time as possible.
An effective video is ultimately the one your viewers will watch. Keeping focused on a clear purpose will help you reach that goal.
Q. How can video help with SEO?
Video can help SEO efforts in a number of ways. Search results for video are clicked on at a higher rate than text only results, pages that include video have a longer visit time which ranks them higher, and providing transcribed text of the video also allows for keywords to be searched.
Video can also offer a lot of chances for links and shares that will increase traffic to your page, and the votes your page has in the eyes of a search engine like Google. Both of those factors will increase where your page lands in search results.
Q. What stages of production are required to make a video?
Video production requires several stages to complete. Each stage is required to ensure the video is produced to the clients expectations on time and on budget. The stages are:
Planning: meeting with the client to discuss the project after the quote has been accepted to determine the scope
Scripting: visual, narrative, text and graphics
Pre-production: arrangement of locations and crew
Production: shooting on location
1st draft editing of the ‘base layer’ of the video in the order in which the content will appear
2nd draft editing changes including graphics, music and titles
Final editing to master keying, colours, audio, graphics
Web optimisation: compression and uploading of video file
Q. I have gone out to market and sourced 3 quotes for video production, why are the prices so different?
There are a number of video production companies in the Melbourne area and even more if you search all over Australia that can deliver a video product.
We can’t speak for our competition and why their prices so high or low, but we do know that many do charge clients for unnecessary items, hours and staff. Some charge for foley (a man in a room banging pots for sound effects). Some charge per location rather than per days shooting and some bring a cast of thousands when only a few are required. Whereas you can find a bunch young amateur videographers or film students who will do a video for next to nothing, but that might heavily affect the quality of video produced and might not be affective for your business.
At Stagewolf, we can keep our prices low as we work with talented & creative individuals who have good industry connections and know how to keep budgets small. We also tailor make crews of talented contractors for a production based on experience in the genre of video needing to be filmed. This means we can expand and contract our team depending on the budget. We also like to use multi-skilled workers to keep our pricing down and pass on the savings to you.
Q. I would like to go ahead with a video. Whats the first step? What do we do?
Take a few minutes to think about your project and your needs. To produce a video a good industrial video production company will need to know a few things about your company and the presentation.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
1. In what setting will the video be shown?
2. Who will be watching the video?
3. What is the purpose of the video?
4. What do you want people to do when they're through viewing the video?
5. What do you want people to remember about the video?
6. How many poeple are going to view your video?
7. How are you going to distribute the video?
Write your information down and share it with other people in your company to get their responses.
Once you have a general idea and an example of what you want as a final product, you can write down a brief description and details in our contact form and we will get back to you via email, arrange a phone meeting, or meetup in person to discuss your video project.
